Applications

Thermocouple mineral insulated cable is widely applied in industry, used for power and control circuits of critical equipment, such as temperature measurement devices; a proven choice for high temperature probe fabrication.

Construction

Made by placing one or more wire conductors inside a circular copper tube and filling the intervening spaces with dry magnesium oxide powder. The overall assembly is then pressed between rollers to reduce its diameter (and increase its length).

A mineral-insulated (MI) thermocouple cable consists of two dissimilar metal wires joined together at one end to form a thermocouple junction, enclosed within mineral insulation material (typically magnesium oxide), which provides electrical insulation and mechanical protection. The outer sheath is usually made of corrosion-resistant material such as stainless steel or Inconel.
